Jim Sigler joined Public Radio KMST's staff in 1985 as a Producer/Host. He served as News Director from 1987 through 1990 when
he became KMST's Program Director. Previously, he worked as a DJ, production manager, News and Farm News Director at a
commercial Polka radio station in Kewaunee, Wisconsin. The station had the distinction of being the only "mono" FM station in the
Cheesehead state serving Lake Michigan's shore with a mind bending 3,000 watts.
Today Jim serves as KMST's General Manager, as well as Producer/Host of Sounds Eclectic. In addition to a wide-ranging interest in many musical genres, Jim brings his love of traditional and contemporary folk music to both programs. Currently semi-retired from music performance, Jim is a former full-time musician. The native Michigander sings and plays the guitar, clawhammer banjo, mandolin and Dobro. During the 1970s and 80s he performed in two well-known Old-Time music bands; The Lost World Stringband and the Boreal Stringband. Currently, Jim is deeply enjoying exploring the electric guitar and playing the blues and rock n’ roll with close friend and formidable guitarist KMST’s Chuck Knapp.
Jim earned a B.A. in Telecommunications at Michigan State University where he co-produced Sally Rogers' very successful first album The Unclaimed Pint. He appeared on the Bozo The Clown television show twice as an adult, and his grandfather was the attending physician at Harry Houdini's death.
Jim and his wife Lisa have a “blended” family with five children and three grandchildren. In addition to his passion for music, Jim collects thermos bottles, "kitschy" postcards, loves computers, musical instruments and Bozo memorabilia and almost never throws anything away.
