John Francis considers himself a Rolla native, having lived here for all but 15 years of his life.  He graduated from Rolla High School, attended both Missouri S&T (then UMR) in Rolla and MSU (then SMSU) in Springfield; eventually graduating with a degree in Music from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.  

After spending several years teaching music in the public schools, John began his career at KMST in 1995 as producer of the popular nationally-syndicated program We're Science.  In 2001, he became Program Director of the station.  John now divides his time between serving as the local host for NPR's  All Things Considered, taking care of general station operations, updating the station's website, and attending to the myriad of other tasks involved in keeping a great radio station on the air.  John is the station's resident geek, and loves new technology.
